You may know that Matt Martin – a program officer at the Stanley Foundation, an occasional guest blogger here at Arms Control Wonk.com, and my friend – lost his father, Louis Martin last week under terrible circumstances.

The family asks that those who wish to honor Dr. Martin, make a donation to the Metanexus Institute, which Matt describes as “a metaphysics discussion group that works to reconcile science and religion.”

The topic was the abiding avocation for my father over the last few decades of his life, authoring two books on the subject and contributing articles to Metanexus and other groups with regularity.

You can make a donation here, with a notice stating that the gift is in memory of Louis C Martin, MD.

Update from Matt

Dear Colleagues,

Thank you for all of the kind words and support you have given to me and my family over this difficult time. I feel very fortunate. I hope you won’t mind if I send you one more article regarding my dad—this time celebrating his life, rather than chronicling his death.

And as some have already asked me, I’ll also include here the 3 charities to which we’re asking people who are interested to donate, in case people from outside TSF ask. Creighton Prep is the prep school for Creighton University that both my dad and I (and countless other Martins) have attended; Duchesne Academy is the high school my sister attended and at which my dad taught, many years ago; and the Metanexus Institute is an metaphysics discussion organization that studies the interplay between the realms of science and religion, my dad’s main avocation for the last 20 years of his life.
